Match Race Umpires’ Clinic
Have you ever thought about umpiring?
The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Yachting New Zealand are providing you with an opportunity to see what match racing umpiring is all about, learn some of the required skills and ride along with top umpires in the game.
As part of the NESPRESSO Youth International Match Racing Cup (16th-19th February), you will be able to attend a match racing umpire clinic run by Ben Fels (AUS) and then you will be able to ride along with the event umpires to observe them during the regatta.
The clinic is unique, from a rules perspective it will be focussing on transitioning Judges and Team Sailing Umpires to Match Racing from a rules and positioning perspective. It will also cover the roles, culture, interactions, philosophies for Match Racing.
To make the most of the experience you will need to have a reasonable knowledge of the rules and preferably some experience in match racing.
The clinic will be held on Wednesday the 15th of February starting at 12.00 and running through till about 17.30.
